As organizations committed to racial and economic justice and equity, NCLC and NACA understand – and share – concerns about the unacceptable hostility towards Black, brown, LGBTQ+, immigrants, women, and other people and communities singled out and harmed by recent legislation and policies undermining equality and limiting fundamental rights in Florida. We stand in solidarity with those who are impacted by these policies.

The city of Orlando, where  the 2024 Consumer Rights Litigation Conference (CRLC) will be held, assures us that it has a long history of being a diverse, welcoming, and multicultural community. Our conference planning team is working closely with Florida legal services and community-based organizations in the conference planning process, as well as with the city and the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista host hotel, each of which has indicated their desire to create a welcoming environment for all visitors.

NCLC and NACA are committed to taking action to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering event for all in attendance. Our 2024 CRLC plans include the following initiatives and information:

  • Protocols for enabling attendees to alert NCLC/NACA staff about safety issues
  • De-escalation and bystander intervention training for NCLC/NACA staff
  • Information about transportation/shuttle options from the Orlando airport to the conference hotel
  • Invitations to local civil rights and equality organizations to allow them to share information and opportunities to take action with attendees
  • Opportunities to support local organizations and advocates on the ground working with at-risk communities
  • Breakout sessions focused on addressing issues of special importance to marginalized communities
  • Plenary address(es) from Florida equality / civil rights leaders
  • Supporting local business and restaurants owned by people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals through conference sourcing and by providing information and encouragement to attendees to support these businesses

We encourage prospective and registered attendees to check out the resource lists below:

Safety, Inclusion, and Empowerment plans will expand and develop as the conference planning process continues. We welcome the input of our community, and encourage you to email [email protected] with your input and suggestions.
