Bill affordability is top of mind for customers, regulators, and policymakers in Massachusetts right now. In the past year, the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has approved a new tiered-discount-rate structure for National Grid Electric and opened DPU Docket 24-15 to engage stakeholders in discussions around affordability across all regulated utility companies in the state. This Q&A Hour will begin with a short presentation focused on the outcomes of the National Grid rate case, including retroactive discount policies at National Grid and at the state’s other utilities, the new tiered-rate structure, and the discount rate self-attestation pilot. We will also briefly cover discussions taking place in DPU 24-15 on affordability.

Q&A Hours are intended to be less formal opportunities for advocates to learn, ask questions, and share what they are seeing through their work on the ground, which is invaluable to NCLC policy advocacy work. Any questions or comments about energy and utility issues in Massachusetts are welcome; they do not have to be about the topic directly.
