Richard Dubois
Executive Director
Richard Dubois has been Executive Director of the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) since 2016.
During his tenure, NCLC has continued to be the preeminent advocacy organization for low-income consumers and has grown considerably: NCLC currently has a staff of 65, including 30 advocates, and its annual budget is approximately $14.5 million, up from $8.1 million in 2016.
Under Rich’s leadership, NCLC has expanded the scope and impact of its advocacy at the federal and state levels and broadened its Racial Justice and Equal Economic Opportunity Project. He led an effort to expand NCLC’s consumer law training and education offerings, in partnership with the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA). And he oversaw a significant upgrade of the NCLC Digital Library, home of NCLC’s legal treatises, books, and other consumer law publications.
Rich joined NCLC in 1997, previously serving as Deputy Director and Director of Development & Project Planning and as a staff attorney focusing on foreclosure prevention and sustainable homeownership. He is a co-author of Consumer Warranty Law and a contributing author of Surviving Debt.
