NCLC submitted testimony in support of Maryland SB 548 (Snydor), the Ratepayer Protection Act. The bill would provide modest, but important consumer ratepayer protections updates to Maryland’s Strategic Infrastructure Development and Enhancement Plan (STRIDE) accelerated and unchecked natural gas infrastructure investment law. The bill requires the utilities to prioritize aging gas pipes based on their risk to the public and to first consider lower cost alternatives to installation of new gas lines.
